I have a family of five, mom, wife, two lovely kids…three actually. One is a dog. It is funny how pets become part of the human family so soon after they join you. When I come home, my dog greets me like he hasn’t seen me in years. Sometimes I think he loves me more than anyone else in this world. We do a lot for our pets just like they make us feel so much better about ourselves.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to take the pet to a veterinarian. This is where pet insurance comes in. It is essential to own pet insurance if you want to keep your pets healthy and happy. Since the first policy in 1982, pet insurance has become more widespread. Many people don’t see value in purchasing pet insurance, and many do. With a rise in veterinary cost more people started taking pet health insurance and the result is it’s great popularity today.
What plan you choose depends on your pet’s needs. You could cover routine care, including vaccinations, spaying, neutering, checkups etc. Or you could go in for accident and illness coverage. This covers surgery lab work, medication, hospital stays and such other expenses. For pet health insurance, you need to pay the full amount of the visit or treatment to your vet. Then you are reimbursed by the provider of the insurance.
Generally 70 to 80 percent of the costs are paid by pet insurance providers.
