Should Health Insurance Cover Autism?

Autism is not covered by health insurance. There is no valid reason for this. Autism is highly treatable. With the proper treatment, autistic children can live an improved quality of life and lead an independent life to a fair degree.
It is a pity that insurance does not cover autism, even high priced insurance. Cancer, diabetes and many such medical treatments are covered by insurance and there is a strong case for even autism being covered by insurance. For an autistic child to lead a normal life takes a lot of effort.
One in every 150 children is autistic. If insurance companies do not make moves towards giving the autistic insurance then the legislators should act.
On a side note, according to insurance data, pet dental health is a low priority for many owners. Millions of dollars are being spent every year to take care of pets teeth. Even so, not many opt for pet insurance.
For those not in the know, although pets are not as susceptible to decay as humans, they can fall victim to it. According to a report. 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats show dental disease signs by the age of 3.
