Various Perspectives in the Health Care Debate
The health care debate has various aspects to it. The debate is become more about what say the government should have in medical matters. While the debate is focusing about this issue, the important practical considerations are being overlooked. Both sides agree that patients need more consumer protection so that they should be able to get insurance cover for a treatable, costly illness.
The bill will be able to protect consumers, whether they have cancer or high cholesterol. The medical history would not be the major deciding factor for charging premiums although companies could charge people above fifty years of age more than they charge those in their twenties.
The bill is to benefit employees of small concerns greatly. They would enjoy many of the benefits that employees in Fortune 500 companies enjoy. The advantage of this is that people could easily leave jobs in large companies to join smaller ones of their choosing and keep their insurance benefits.
The debate has two perspectives. Health care companies think that many people do not get coverage unless they are very ill. The other aspect of this is the discrimination against some patients by insurance companies. If the goal of getting every insured is fulfilled there should be no worries since if everyone is covered the margins per person for insurance companies may be small but everyone would still profit due to the larger population covered.
