Americans Unmedicated Due To Rising Unemployment
Americans are skipping medications. The reason, unemployment and the ensuing loss of insurance. The economy has nosedived and people have had to sacrifice homes and retirements to pay for medical bills. High costs are forcing people to forego medical care. Budgets of state, county and city are shrinking and this is forcing a cutback of essential programs. Medical personnel are being reduced and safety net hospitals are being reduced as well.
In addition disparities in health care are increasing and public health infrastructure is under resourced. 3,400 jobs were lost in Maine in December. People are afraid of events like heart attacks or surgeries as this would mean a wipe-out of all savings. It is important to stay positive.
Medication bills can amount to 400 dollars a month for people and there are all the other bills after that. This leads to skipping of medications by people.
Here is a simple solution that can be used while you are healthy to stay healthy. Run a mile – you don’t need to go to the gym. If you can’t run then practice yoga through a cd at home. If you have a mental or physical affliction try an alternative remedy like Pranayama – the Indian breathing exercises. They are free to do and easy. When there is a will there is a way.
