America’s Health Care Future

In 2008 more than 1 trillion dollars of federal budget money was used for health care.  Components of this spending on health care were federal employee insurance, medicare and exclusion of employer health contributions from workers taxable incomes. Present trends withstanding, this amount will double in 10 years.

Although President Elect Barack Obama’s ideas for health care cost cutting are good, the savings needed by Americans are not likely to be created. One suggestion from Obama’s team is electronic health care reforms which would save the country about $80 billion. However in a system that rewards waste and punishes efficiency, meaningful savings cannot happen.

Stimulus Plan to Expand Health Insurance

Having health insurance is as important as having food and shelter and this is why President elect Barack Obama is working on a new plan to act as a stimulus to health insurance. The 500 mn plan is on next month as part of the economic recovery legislation. The argument is that the billions of dollars spent on a number of health programs will benefit the economy as a whole.
